Two years ago I realized we had enough money invested to coast to financial independence. In other words, we didn’t need to save another dime and we could achieve a healthy traditional retirement around age 60. We were faced with a decision: keep going down the path we were on, working full-time, saving as much as possible, and working towards early retirement OR we could downshift, lean into flexible work, and focus on covering living expenses while staying on track for a traditional retirement.
